R.I.P. Richard Donner

My heart lurched when I saw the headline.
I know that 91 years is a long time, more than most of us have any right to ask for, likewise for the impressive list of credits to his name. Even so, to lose someone of his stature feels tragic all the same.
Richard Donner came into this world on April 24, 1930 and left it on July 5, 2021, leaving behind dozens of movies and TV episodes he directed and about a dozen more producing credits. Somewhere in his body of work is something for everybody--a comedy, a drama, an adventure.
But that's the work, not the person.
Margot Kidder, Donner's handpicked choice for Lois Lane, described him this way:
"Richard treated his crew and his actors with dignity. I loved working with him."
We should all strive to be talked about so warmly.
